Music Man

We met beneath the stormy skies of winter

And were so quickly swept away

It took two years to truly draw my breath

There was music,

The kind to stir your soul, and mine,

Together they danced

Together they sang

But mine was being led

The roads flew beneath us

We took the turns as one

The chorus swelled, the harmonies

Drove me to distraction

And through it all, my eyes were closed

Shut against what was

Shut against what was coming

The reverb brought me crashing down

Broken, on the ground, my eyes finally opened

I realized the music was gone

Gone the melodies

Gone the wind in my hair

Gone the steps I had worked so long to master

And in the silence

pain
